The first printing of Del Mar Flavors cookbook sold out within two weeks. We reprinted the cookbook and that is also sold out. I have had many friends ask if they may purchase another copy as theirs is falling apart with use—many saying it is one of the very few cookbooks they have kept.

For those disappointed friends, I would like to post some of my favorite recipes from the Del Mar Flavors cookbook so you may have “forever” access to many of those classic recipes. (Friends: Please send me a note if you have a favorite recipe you would like to see posted!)

A little history of the making of the Del Mar Flavors cookbook:

Several years ago the Del Mar Garden Club was looking for a way to raise money to beautify the landscape around Del Mar and the Del Mar Flavors cookbook for born.

The cookbook united the community of the garden clubs of Del Mar. What began in 1993 as a small book by the Del Mar Garden Club, was “revisioned” to embrace participation by the Friendship Gardeners and the Del Mar Rose Society. Members of all three groups served as chapter editors and enthusiastically contributed their recipes and expertise. We collected the very best new recipes for entertaining. We asked friends for their trusted heirlooms that were as dear to them as family photographs. We included comfort foods and tried and true recipes. We also looked for shortcuts: dishes to prepare in a hurry, so that we had more time to paint, garden or enjoy the beach.

We collected almost 1300 recipes and painstakingly narrowed the book down to about 900 recipes. I hope you enjoy some of the selected recipes from the cookbook.
