Loy Krathong is a spectacular and colorful Thai festival where families and friends come together to launch small candle lit wreaths (Krathong) in lakes and rivers and floating lit lanterns into the sky. Music, parades and fireworks are also a big part of the celebration in Chaing Mai.

The Festival is held every year on the full moon of the twelfth month in the Thai Lunar Calendar. It is held from November 14-16th in 2016, and November 3-5th in 2017.

I looked out my hotel room window and saw what looked like thousands of lit lanterns floating through the sky. It is WELL worth arranging a trip to Thailand to be able to see this amazing 3-day festival.
