Instructions
  1. Sort through dried peas and rinse well to clean.
  2. Put peas in pot and add water and Lawry’s Seasoned Salt; cook for about 45 minutes. Skim foam off top as it accumulates.
  3. Add carrots and cook for another 15-20 minutes until peas and carrots are tender. If you like carrots a tiny bit crunchy, add them more toward the end.
  4. The soup will be ready to eat at this point if you would like vegetarian soup. If you would like ham, add the ham cubes and cook for another 5 minutes.
Recipe Notes

I always double or triple a soup recipe so I have plenty left over that I can freeze in 1-pin or 1-quart containers.

The photos from this recipe shows a double batch–half of which I left as vegetarian and half of which I added 2 cups of ham.

The Lawry’s Seasoned Salt includes onion, garlic, paprika and turmeric, among other ingredients. This blend seems to make the perfect seasoning for Split Pea Soup–hope you enjoy this EASY recipe!
